EAT & DRINK AT Clavel | Baltimore, MD
Chef Carlos Raba at Clavel is a James Beard 2022 Best Chef Mid-Atlantic Semifinalists. You can tell a place is popular when a line forms outside in anticipation of the 5pm open time. About 20 or so of us waited outside until they officially opened. Once the door opened we all piled in and filled up the cozy space very quickly. The whole atmosphere transports you to a different world. There are a wide variety of mostly tequila based drinks to choose from. We ordered the delicious, hot and creamy queso topped with chorizo with a bag full of fresh-made tortilla chips. For dinner we split a bunch of delicious and unique tacos.

Mezcalita- con sal de chapulines
Paloma de Luto- El Velo tequila reposado, toronja, limon, hoja de aguacate, house sel da chapulines
>> Botanas (Snacks):
Queso Fundido- bubbling hot queso Chihuahua, guacamole, choice of frijoles, totopos (we added chorizo)
>> Tacos de la Tierra (Tacos of the Land):
2 of the Barbacoa de Borrego- house butchered lamb in Mexican coffee, Negra Modelo, spices
Lengua- beef tongue in salsa verde
Huitlacoche- corn fungus, mushroom, corn, epazote, queso cotija, pickled squash blossom
Rajas Vegetarians- Chile poblano tatemado, onion, corn, crema Mexicana
