EAT & DRINK AT Wag's Restaurant & Bar | Frederick, MD
Wag’s is definitely one of those “down home locals” kinda bars. You enter down some random set of stairs on the side of Market St. in downtown Frederick, and are welcomed by a dimly lit, super packed space run by 2 bartenders who are also servers, food runners & greeters. The beer is cheap ($2.50 for a draft pour of Yuengling & 75 cents during happy hour) and so is the food. Our lunch bill was less than $30 for 2 burgers, fries and beer. I love a good dive bar so Wags was a fun place for me to check out.
For lunch I ordered the cheeseburger w/American cheese, onions, mayo, lettuce & tomato. **They have actually been voted “Best Burger in Frederick” numerous times, and now I understand why. The burger was actually cooked better than a lot of “nicer” restaurants I’ve been to (medium rare is a true art form apparently). We shared a plate of fries and of course we had to douse them in tons of vinegar and salt because that’s the way we like it.
Wag’s is a place I’ll definitely be visiting again for a few draft pours of Yuengling, next time during their 75 cent happy hour deal.
