EAT & DRINK AT The Tasting Room | Frederick, MD

We celebrated my mother’s birthday this past weekend at the Tasting Room, described as a contemporary bar & eatery featuring sophisticated New American fare & an extensive wine list. We knew this was the place we had to take her for a special birthday dinner. Drinks were ordered all around; from fancy cocktails (the Hula Hoop & the Feeling Fuzzy cocktails for my parents) to wine (Grenache Rose) for me. There were also several appetizers to share including a few bowls of the decadent lobster chowder with potatoes and corn as well as the fried green tomatoes topped with a delicious remoulade and sweet corn chutney.
Afterward we had some pretty amazing and delicious entrees including the crab cakes made with jumbo lump crab with a side of truffle hash browns and asparagus, 2 orders of the 10 oz. filet mignon with a side of potatoes au gratin, and for the birthday girl, the pan-seared sea scallops which came with pork belly, butternut squash, a curried applesauce, and a side of brussels sprouts.
We were stuffed but couldn’t resist ordering a few desserts to share, including the seasonal pumpkin puff and the smores dessert featuring a warm caramel sauce poured table side over a melting chocolate sphere.
