Sometimes the most delicious and authentic Mexican food can be found in the strangest places, just like Tacos Carlitos inside the half empty Francis Scott Key mall in Frederick, MD. Most stores may be empty but there always seems to be a line to order food from this place. We visited the FSK Mall on a Sunday afternoon and knew we had to finally try out that busy Mexican food stall. The food we ordered was all super fresh, came out hot with a reasonable wait time, and had tons of flavor.
We ordered a variety of tacos – chorizo (spiced Mexican pork sausage), carnitas (pulled pork), suadero (shredded beef), and carne asada (grilled steak). All of the tacos come with cilantro and onion, classic Mexican style. I asked for a side of medium salsa because I know my husband always likes some extra heat. We also had to try a large pollo asada (grilled chicken) quesadilla which comes with a side of sour cream and pico de gallo. When they say “large” they mean it. We ordered our meal to go and that quesadilla filled the entire container. We were definitely stuffed afterwards.
