DRINK AT Frederick Social | Frederick, MD

@frederick.social

Frederick Social is one of the newest businesses to open in downtown Frederick, opening in Oct 2021. They call themselves a “new kind of café” and in fact probably my favorite kind of café- one that serves beer & wine. They are also known for their wide variety of farm-to-table vegetarian and vegan food options along with a regular carnivorous menu.

When we visited we tried a bunch of beers on tap, during the annual “In The Streets” festival in downtown Frederick.

When you arrive at Frederick Social, in order to drink, you have to check-in at the main desk and get your personalized Frederick social card. Your name and credit card is linked to this card and keeps track of what drinks you pour during your visit. Once you have your card you can peruse the wide selection of high quality drinks on tap, from wine, kombucha, hard iced tea, and a ton of beers. Then, you grab a glass from their wide variety of options (mugs, pints, tasters, tulip glasses, and even mason jars), put your social card in the slot, and pour your drink of choice from the tap. The machine will record how much liquid is poured (as little or as much as you want) and will keep track of your bill total on your individual card.

We loved their self-serve model and the ability to taste such a wide variety of beers from different breweries all in one place. On this day I had taster pours of “Rainbow Sherbet” a fruited sour from Saga Brewing, “Escapist’s Daydream” a fruited Berliner Weisse sour from Other Half Brewing, “The Claw Won” an imperial double IPA from Crooked Crab, and “Focus Group” an imperial double IPA from Aslin Beer Co. The quality of the beer selection was quite impressive as self-professed beer nerds. We’ll definitely be visiting again!
