Of course drinks were chosen first- a classic Deep Eddy orange crush for me, the guava tiki rum punch for my husband, the peach gin fizz for my mother-in-law & the underground purple cocktail for my father-in-law. What we were later told, due to the mac & cheese festival happening outside, that for every $30 spent, we’d get a free round of shooters. I think there were a total of 10 shooters taken that day… whoops. Sunday Funday really got out of hand quickly for us.
After drinks, we had to order some apps. We started off with an order of the handmade mozzarella sticks which promised epic cheese pulls. We were not disappointed. One of the bartender’s was nice enough to snag us a plate of their award-winning pepperoni mac and cheese balls with hot honey. They were bombbbb & lucky for y’all, they’ll be added to the full-time restaurant menu soon.
For our pizzas we chose the Roni Boi which included a ton of pepperoni topped with red sauce and parm. I always love when the little pepperonis do that cupping thing in the oven and get nice and crispy. We also ordered the summer corn pizza w/crab meat- a street corn style pizza with locally sourced sweet corn, cojita cheese, red onion, cilantro and a house made lime crema & the Tiger King which was topped with sausage, bacon, and pepperoni w/ a red sauce and hot honey drizzle.
We were stuffed, a lil tipsy & very happy on this Sunday Funday adventure. Thanks for having us Underground Pizza! We’ll definitely be making the trip back.
